Art and political activism for sustainability issues?
Our guest Mercedes Echerer has mastered this balancing act in her own way: From 1999 to 2004 she interrupted her career as an actress in order to enter the European Parliament as an independent member of the Green Party.
Tinkering on Paradise as an artist in the political arena: Mercedes Echerer will talk about this experiment at Paradise No.1.
Vernissage: November 28th, 2019 | 6:30pm
Finissage: February 19th, 2020
"I want (...) to exemplify, to illustrate a paradise that everyone can have, that just needs to be seized." Friedensreich Hundertwasser
12.03.2019 - 20.11.2019
In the group exhibition "D E L U S I O N" (Germ. Verblendung), the Baha Fine Art Gallery shows selected works by the artists Gottfried Helnwein and Sebastian Krüger, juxtaposing them with current political and social realities.
Opening: 24. January 2019
Exhibition Duration: 25.01.2019 - 03.03.2019
Friedensreich Hundertwasser is one of the best-known Austrian artists worldwide, although in his own country he had never been granted the recognition he received internationally; a dubious honor, which he shares with many compatriots. At an early age Hundertwasser celebrated his international success, among others in 1962 at the Venice Biennale and in 1964 at the documenta III.
31.06.2018 – 21.01.2019
The exhibition „Portrait" shows authentic portraits in the form of hyperrealistic paintings by Gottfried Helnwein, whose motifs refer to themes of injury, violence and abuse, which are omnipresent topics in his oeuvre. Contrary to that, the portraits in Hundertwasser's color-intensive, decorative-ornamental painting style appear both in the form of unusually naturalistic and abstract head representations. Both artists approach the viewer in their own, unmistakable way and try to encourage the viewer to question themselves as humans in their environment.
September 2017 – Spring 2018
On September 23, 2017, the second official opening of the Transformers Art exhibition of the Baha Fine Art Gallery took place in Thal, which is situated nearby the Styrian capital Graz. The museum, which deals with the personal life story of Arnold Schwarzenegger, will show its temporary exhibit "Arnie meets Transformers Art" until spring 2018 in cooperation with the artist Danilo Baletić. Visitors should not only be made aware of the importance of recycling seemingly worthless materials, but also of the danger of an increasing robotization of our society.
02 March 2017 - 01 May 2017
The Baha Fine Art gallery opened with big success its Transformer exhibition on 2nd of March 2017 in Milano, Italy. Eight gigantic sculptures are now part of the Museo Nazionale Scienza E Tecnologia „Leonardo da Vinci" and are visitable until 1st of May 2017.
The Museo Nazionale Scienza E Tecnologia is the largest museum of science and technology in Italy, one of the most important ones in Europe and in the world. It valorizes the largest collection of machines models in the world, based on Leonardo da Vinci's drawings.
After Milan, the Transformers Art project will travel to Denmark and London and later move from Europe to Asia via the United States.
March 2016 – March 2018
The child is at the center of Gottfried Helnwein's oeuvre. In addition to the explicit display of violence, of mutilated and tortured children, which shape his early work in particular, in recent years Helnwein depicts the vulnerability and fragility of the child very subtle - almost painfully beautiful.
Gottfried Helnwein shows detailed children's faces in a dramatic composition of light and shadow on a contrasting monochrome background, creating the effect of maximizing what is shown. Besides the representation of the child as victim, the exhibition "The Beauty within the Horror" shows the child as well as perpetrator and thus refers to the dichotomy of the role of the child in Helnwein's works.
07 January 2014 – 29 February 2016
At first glance, the works of Gottfried Helnwein and Friedensreich Hundertwasser appear to have little in common. Yet looking behind the surface, philosophical parallels in life and work of the two artists are opening up to the viewer: Startling activism, being an uncompromising revolutionist, profound social criticism and great visions, as well as the interaction with the beholder are important issues in life and oeuvre of Helnwein and Hundertwasser.
06 May 2013 – 31 December 2013
Hundertwasser is one of the most important artists of the 20th century. In his colorful works he mainly deals with the harmonious connection between people, nature and architecture. In addition to his artistic work he campaigns for topics such as ecology, politics and society.
